Saudi Council of Engineers Exams
The Professional Engineer Exam I is a comprehensive First Level Practicing Engineering Exam intended to measure the basic competencies and fundamental engineering knowledge of engineers. Passing the exam is one of the requirements to be promoted to the rank of Associate Engineer. It is also a prerequisite to obtain a work permit from the Saudi Council of Engineers to practice the engineering profession in the Kingdom.
 
 
 
Exam Structure:
The exam is conducted in two parts as follows:
 
Part One: General Engineering exam:
The number of questions in this part is 90 multiple choice questions and lasts for 3 hour. This part covers the General Engineering topics, which include the following:
  • Mathematics
  • Probability and Statistics
  • Computer Literacy
  • Statics and Dynamics
  • Chemistry
  • Thermodynamics
  • Fluid Mechanics
  • Materials Science and Engineering
  • Electricity and Magnetism
  • Engineering Drawing
  • Engineering Economics
  • Project Management
  • Ethics
  • General Skills, which includes:
          o Analytical skills and critical thinking
          o Recognizing major technology changes within and outside the discipline
          o Communication skills
          o Multidisciplinary team work skills
          o Time management skills
          o Continuous improvements skills
          o Recognizing and interpreting sustainability, social, and safety constraints imposed on design
 
1.Engineering Discipline exam:
The number of questions in this part is 50 multiple choice questions and lasts for 3 hour. This part covers the following six engineering disciplines:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering

2. Architecture Exam

The Fundamentals of Architecture Exam is a comprehensive exam that covers all the basic topics in the Architectural discipline. The aim of this exam is to measure the knowledge and basic skills and abilities that the graduate of an architectural program must have in order to practice as an Architect. Furthermore, passing this exam is a prerequisite to become an Associate Architect in the Saudi Council of Engineers.

The total number of questions, in this exam, is 100 questions and lasts for three hours. The questions are of the multiple choice type of questions. The exam covers the following topics:

Exam Rules:
  • Books, lecture notes, or any type of materials are not allowed in the exam. Necessary reference sheets, monographs, equations, and relevant data from codes will be provided in the exam.
  • Calculators approved by Exam authorities are allowed.
